THE ISRAELI JOURNAL OF AQUACULTURE - BAMIDGEH
Guidelines to Authors
(Updated May. 2010)
Submission of articles is restricted to original unpublished articles not submitted elsewhere. Aquaculture-related manuscripts that concur with the IJA aims, scope, and guidelines will be peer reviewed by at least two experts in the relevant discipline. As of January, 2010, only virus free electronic versions of manuscripts, tables, and illustrations, preferably saved in MS Word, can be submitted. Unless otherwise stated below, the font style and size throughout the text should be Verdana 10. Margins should be 2 cm on the top and bottom, 1.5 cm on the right and left. The second and following paragraphs in each section should be indented 0.63 cm. A brief summary of our style follows. Please check other details of style by viewing papers on our website.
Article code names: The following sequence should given to article codes [Name]_[Keyword(s)]_[PPR]. For example "Mires_TilapiaFeeds_PPR"
Title page: Should include the title of the paper in Verdana 12, the name(s) and full address(es) of the author(s), a short running title, and suggested key words. The name of the author to whom correspondence should be directed should be followed by an asterisk. An e-mail address must be provided for the corresponding author as communication between the editor and authors is conducted exclusively by e-mail.
Abstract: A concise but complete summary of the work, not longer than 5% of the manuscript.
Text: The text should be organized in the following sections: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and a separate Discussion.
Authors are required to assure the following: (a) experiments must be reproducible; (b) quantitative results must derive from no fewer than three replicates; and (c) differences between replicates must not be due to random variation. All abbreviations should be given in full once, at their first mention. Results should be reported only once, in either the text or a table or a figure.
Acknowledgements: Individuals other than authors can be acknowledged by a brief statement immediately following the text. Acknowledgments of grant support should also be placed here.
References: Except for review articles, the references should number no more than 25 (30 maximum). Only references related to the experimental work at hand should be cited. Theses and dissertations may be cited only if they contain otherwise unpublished data. We strongly request that authors review previous issues of the IJA on our open access Internet site for relevant papers to cite. Within the text, references should be listed in chronological order, giving the name(s) of the author(s) followed by the year of publication in parentheses. Work by more than two authors should give the name of the first author followed by et al. The reference list should be in alphabetical order. Names of journals should be italicized and abbreviated according to the Bibliographic Guide for Editors and Authors. Examples:

The tables should follow the reference section, in numerical order. The font size within the tables should be Verdana 8 or 9. Please check other details of table style by viewing papers on our website: siamb.org.il.
Figures and photographs: Figures should be numbered consecutively, according to the order in which they appear in the text. All figures and photographs must be mentioned in the text. Photographs should be submitted as high resolution (300 dpi) JPG files. Symbols, letters, and numbers should be of sufficient size to be clearly legible when reduced to publication size. Colored photographs will be accepted free of charge.
